Q: How do I license my dog? Are cats required by law to be licensed?

A: Licenses for dogs owned by Springfield residets can be obtained at city hall at the city clerks office or at  TJO.  Please bring your dogs current rabies vaccination certificate.  Springfield's license period runs from April 1 to March 31 of each year.  Cost spayed/neutered dogs $5 Intact dog $20

Licenses for Chicopee and Holyoke residents can be obtained at city clerk's office in the city which you live.

At this time cats are not required to be licensed.  We strongly encourage that they wear some form of collar and tag and also be microchipped.  Most cats will get lost at some point in their lifetime.  an identificatio tag is their ticket home.
