Q: When does a building permit expire?

A: Work must be commenced within six months of the date all permits are issued. If you are actively working on a project, the permit does not expire. However, for cause, one or more extensions of time, for periods not exceeding six months each, may be requested in writing, and may or may not be granted in writing by the Building Commissioner.
