Q:  How long do you hold the animals?

A:  Dogs that are found roaming are held 10 days, mandated by state law to allow their owner a chance to locate them. After 10 days, if unclaimed,dogs are evaluted for adoption.

There is no legal holding period of cats. Because of a very low (<2%) return to owner rate, we often make them available for adoption muc sooner than 10 days.

Once up for adoption, there is not a set holding period.  They remain up for adoption (or placed in to foster care) in most cases until they are adopted.
